Warrington Challenge – U13 Junior Badminton Tournament

Dear Badminton Coaches, Club Officials, Fans, Supporters and Enthusiasts of Warrington,
I have the privilege to announce to you that the annual Junior Badminton Tournament of Warrington, for children under 13 years of age, will be held on the 25th of January.
The venue is going to be the Warrington Youth Zone‘s Sports Hall once again.
This will be a photographed event, where we will make pictures and videos of children. Please clearly state your consent choice at the registration form.
With this not-for-profit event, we would like to provide a competitive chance for all the children, whether they currently do, or do not have a National Rankings, or part of the County team.
Even absolute beginners can come and try themselves on the court. The aim is mass participation to inspire the next generation of potential badminton players of Warrington.
Entry fee, £5/category. We will play with Hybrid Feather Shuttles throughout the tournament.
The entry requirements are to live in Warrington or to be involved in any of the Warringtonian Badminton Clubs or Groups, whether it is affiliated with Badminton England or not.
The groups will be made by ability and not age, nor sex. The Network got great 9-10 year old players who could easily won over their peers, therefore they have to automatically compete against older children in “Group A” to make the games more fair.
1 child can only enter 2 categories, 1 singles and 1 doubles. All child has to stay within their ability group in every discipline. If we have to consolidate group, based on low entries, we will still announce winners of all categories.
The ability groups will be A, B, C.
Group A: County players, anyone else have a ranking and grading with Badminton England, or regularly compete at Junior Leagues
Group B: Children who regularly train in a club environment and/or irregularly or not competing at Junior Leagues
Group C: Anyone who has no competitive experience can enter

The Warrington Youth Zone has offered their sports hall to organise the Warrington Challenge – Junior Badminton Tournament annually for free of charge.
From entry fees, which have to cover the organisational costs (e.g. shuttles, prizes, trophies, etc.) any leftover money will be used to make a donation to the Youth Zone. The financial status of the tournament has to be zero at the end.
As every major event needs volunteers, especially a Junior event, we would like to cordially invite you to a meeting, which will be held in the youth zone, on a Friday night at the end of November, where we can discuss what preparational roles we have and are asking for help, and what roles we have for people we need help with on the day of delivery.
This is all a voluntary action from us, for the future of badminton in Warrington.
Please let us know if you know anyone who would like to be involved in any way and we will find a volunteer position for them.
